Make a Page Monday

Ok, so since I have a major creative crush on Kristina Werner, and I LOVE her MACM (Make a Card Monday), I'm totally stealing her idea and going to start MAPM (Make a Page Monday) on my blog. This is an attempt to re-focus on getting caught up on my scrapbooking - it seems I'm a little behind since I discovered the highly addictive world of card-making 2 months ago. So, I am going to have a weekly scrapbooking challenge. If I can get my blog readers involved, maybe I will stay motivated to do at least 1 page each week (hopefully more).

Here are my pages for the day. (I JUST started doing digital pages - and these are only my 3rd and 4th pages, so bear with me as I "learn the ropes" of digital scrapbooking). In case you can't figure it out for yourselves, it's a 2-page spread. The top page is the left side, the bottom page is the right side. I just can't figure out how to get blogger to line them up next to each other! You can click on each picture to see a larger image and read the journaling (if you care). And yes, that's my sexy husband (carrying the kid-pack) and adorable son in the pics!! :-)

I created these pages in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. I can't seem to remember where I got the background paper and some of the embellishemnts. Sorry!! Here's a list of embellishments I DO remember:

Check back each Monday as I share at least 1 new album page. Some of them will be digital, some will be paper-crafted. (I promise to do a better job of keeping track of where I get my page elements). And please share your own pages you completed this past week! Leave a comment with a link to your page. As my reader-ship (is that a word??) grows, I will include blog candy give-aways and come up with a more structured challenge each week.

Trio of Thanks

I created this VERY SIMPLE trio of Thank You cards this morning using the new Summer Picnic DSP and Die-Cut Blooms. I added some black ribbon and black cardstock and used the Absolutely Fabulous stamp set for the sentiment. It took about 20 minutes to make all 3 cards. Hope you like them!!

Like Magic....a Masculine Birthday Card

Like magic because I so easily made a few simple changes to my Masculine Thank You card (posted directly prior to this) to come up with this Masculine Birthday Card as my entry for Theresa Forseth's latest blog candy challenge. Hope you like it!

I used the same color combo (Old Olive, Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Basic Black) and hodgepodge hardware. The word stamps for both masculine posts came from an old SU set - All About U. The "day" for the B-day is from the Love & Happiness Rub-Ons (SAB) - I just cut off "happy" from "Happy Day". I "painted" my chipboard for both cards with a Bashful Blue Craft stamp pad.

Masculine Thank You

OK, so it seems as if I'm not the only one who struggles with masculine cards. I needed a masculine Thank You card and as I was searching my favorite Stampin' blogs for ideas, I came across Theresa Forseth's challenge for masculine birthday cards. Obviously, this isn't a birthday card, but the color combo and design could easily be altered. For example, you could either use a "Happy Birthday to" stamp with the "U" chipboard. Or, mirror the layout, use a "B" chipboard with a "Happy" stamp (Be Happy). You get the idea.

Color Combo: Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Old Olive (from Summer Picnic DSP), Basic Black

Supplies used: Black grosgrain ribbon; Chipboard letter - Simon Upper; Hodgepodge Hardware; Versamark ink and white embossing powder.

Simple Belated Birthday

I've been behind on my cards and missed one of my good friend's birthday last week, so I whipped up this card today to get in the mail tomorrow. I also wanted to play with the new hodgepodge hardware using ribbon (instead of brads) to attach the bookplate - that took awhile to get right. You can't tell in the picture, but I also used my distressing tool on the edges of the color blocks (blue, red & orange). I like the bright cheery colors, but the layout feels like it's off-balance. Oh well. Here it is anyway...

Color Combo / Cardstock used: Old Olive, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy

Stamp Set: Older and Wiser (Hostess)

Other Supplies: Hodgepodge Hardware Styled Silver (Occasions Mini), Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen

KWerner Color Inspiration #3 Submission

Wow! I'm really on a posting roll today....

One of my favorite designers, Kristina Werner, does a Color Inspiration Round-Up each week. The picture below, from a Pier 1 Catalog, was her inspiration for this week's colors.

Color Combo: Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
I wasn't initially crazy about this color combo, but I was pretty pleased with the finished product. Here's what I came up with...

This was definitely a challenge for me as the only one of the colors I have ink in is Basic Black!! I think I made it work, though. I used my corner rounder punch (with the guide removed) to create the scalloped edge. The white frame is actually a cut-out frame, not a mat, and the flower is slightly curled up & overlapping the frame to create a little dimension. The "Thinking of You" rub-on from the Love & Happiness Rub-on set (Sale-a-Bration) was perfect! A little black grosgrain and an oversized black brad rounded out the card.

This was my first submission for one of Kristina's challenges (and only my second submission to ANYTHING). I loved participating and plan to take part in many more. If you haven't checked out the KWerner Design Blog, it's a must!! She's amazing.

Background Paper Challenge

Hi! I made this quick little card this afternoon for a weekly challenge at another stamping blog I visit frequently. The challenge was to use stamps to create your own background paper. I'm not crazy about my finished design, but I love the colors and it did only take about 15 minutes to make.

Color Combo: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom (which you can't see very well in the picture)
Stamp Set: Seeing Spots
Accessories: Versamark ink pad and white embossing powder, metal rim tag, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Kid's Card Kit

How much do I love the Jersey Shore DSP??
I made this cute Kid's Card Kit last night and had so much fun! The 3 cards fit inside the tin - makes an adorable gift!

Color Combo / Paper: Jersey Shore DSP, Wild Wasabi, Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Stamp Sets: Wild About You, Family Phrases

Other Supplies: Wild Wasabi double stitch ribbon, Bashful Blue striped grosgrain ribbon, silver brads, metal tag, Accents & Elements tin, Word Window Punch
Card Detail:

Card layouts loosely inspired by Andrea Walford's Fun & Fast Notes Set here.

If you would like to see me offer a workshop featuring this or similar "tin kits" please let me know!

Birthday Card for Father-in-law

My Father-in-law's birthday is coming up, so I needed a cute masculine card. My inspiration for the color combo and sketch for this card came from here. You can't tell in the picture, but there is a horizontal row of paper pierced holes above the top piece of striped paper.

Color Combo & Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Brilliant Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue; Jersey Shore DSP
Stamps: Lots of Thoughts (SAB promo), All About U (retired - can use any sentiment or just leave it off)
Other Supplies: Ribbon, My Way Punch, Tag Maker & metal rim, Versamark ink & White embossing powder

Coworker Gifts

I created these adorable notepad holders for some of my coworkers at Kaiser. I found the template for the project at the following blog: http://chichiallen.blogspot.com/search?q=notepad - check out the rest of her great projects!

I LOVE the new BoHo Blossoms punch and One of a Kind stamp set!!

Color Combo #1: Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, So Saffron
Color Combo #2: Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Baroque Burgundy, Very Vanilla

Supplies used: Ink pads and card stock in the colors listed above; One of a Kind stamp set; Chocolate Chip ink pad for sentiment; BoHo Blossoms punch; Photo Corner Punch; Ribbon; Coordinating brads for flower centers.

I purchased the 3x5 notepads at Officemax. They were roughly $7 for 12 notepads - probably cheaper on the mainland.

I will be offering a workshop featuring these projects on April 12 - each attendee will make a notepad holder in the color combo of their choice. Workshop Attendance fee will be $8/person, or attend FREE when you purchase my BoHo product bundle for $44 (includes BoHo Blossoms punch, One of a Kind Stamp Set, and 3 Stampin' Write Markers). E-mail me at JenniferTapler@msn.com if you are interested in attending - I also offer "virtual workshops" for out-of-town attendees - the cost is slightly higher and includes shipping of pre-cut supplies as well as detailed project instructions.

Thanks for looking!
