Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #10

I recently discovered a new-to-me (I know it's not really NEW, but I'm sometimes slow to discover these things way out here in the middle of the Pacific!) stamp company, Waltzingmouse Stamps, that I have fallen in LOVE with. And then this week I discovered that they have a weekly Sketch Challenge and I decided to get some of my new stamps inky and play along!

I created this card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #10.

It's a hybrid card using the fun Rescue Remedies set, a set that let's me make fun vintage-y cards without having to try too hard since that's a style that really doesn't come very natural to me. The stamps really do all the work for me. I love that. I don't have to bust out a bunch of technique stuff that I'm not comfortable with (because as you know I'm so NOT a technique girl!). Although I DID try something totally new for me on this card - Glimmer Mist. Yeah, yeah - again, old story for most of you. But I've had that bottle of Glimmer Mist sitting around for like 2 years and NEVER used it. Like I said, NOT a technique girl! But all I did was spray. Is it really that easy? Was I supposed to do anything else? It did give it a nice glimmery sheen, but I'm disappointed it doesn't photograph better - you really can't see it. Oh well. Here's my attempt to see that Glimmer Mist a little better, but I'm not sure you can really tell and the color's weird in the photo.

As for the rest of the card, the papers (besides the Kraft) are all printed digi papers from the Summer Days kit by Zoe Pearn. I created the little rolled flowers (using Kraft and a couple of printed digi papers) with a cut file for my Silhouette purchased from the Silhouette website (soooo excited I finally got my Silhouette to work with Windows 7 after only like 6 months of it sitting here gathering dust!!). I also added some messy stitching, a ribbon and a pokey thing (are they called "hat pins"?) that I never use because they always just look like an injury waiting to happen. I'm pretty sure I'd never actually give someone a card with one of those sharp things jabbing out of the front. Yikes. But I have to admit it is awful pretty.

So that's it. I'll be back soon with another Verve Sneak Peek!!

Wow! I'm impressed. Vintage, glimmer mist and a pokey thing, oh my! I made a card this afternoon and I used 2 pokey things. They're not as sharp as I thought they would be (but I still poked myself). Hope Dean is feeling better. Hugs, Les

This is such a pretty 'fuss free' card yet there's still a lot of little details to look at - love it!

Wow, lovely! That Waltzingmouse stamp is fab. Love the paper flowers. Congrats on getting your Silhouette connected and working! Are those the same paper flowers that Karen had a her card a few days ago?

I'm with you, I have some stick pins, but I've yet to put one on a card.

What a great card! Love your flowers! For your "pokey thing" hat pin, if you have any small beads/pearls, try gluing one to the tip of your pin & it will no longer poke anyone! ;-)
